Allyson Felix is helping us get the word out about one of the critical barriers holding mothers back from voting in this election: childcare.
This is especially true for Black moms in historically under-resourced communities so we want to help them – and all moms – get out to vote, either for early voting or on Election Day, November 5, 2024.
Our partnership celebrates and builds on Allyson’s continuing legacy outside of the Olympics to support mothers and families.
Right here you’ll be able to access a limited number of:
- CHILDCARE/BABYSITTING REIMBURSEMENTS FOR VOTERS IN NORTH CAROLINA thanks to our partners at Politisit. Sign up here!
- DROP OFF CHILDCARE FOR CHILDREN AGES 3 MONTHS TO 6 YEARS OLD FOR VOTERS IN LOS ANGELES thanks to our partners at Brella. Sign up here!
- IN-HOME CHILDCARE FOR VOTERS IN NEW YORK, JERSEY CITY, HOBOKEN, PHILADELPHIA, AND CHICAGO thanks to Politisit partner, Smart Sitting. Sign up here!
In the swing state of North Carolina, we are partnering with Politisit specifically to cover childcare costs while moms and caregivers vote. Parents can hire their trusted local babysitter and know that they’ll be covered for up to two hours of childcare while they head to the polls to cast their ballot. And in Western North Carolina which has been seriously devastated by Hurricane Helene, they’ll reimburse up to a full day’s worth of childcare so that moms can vote.
Why North Carolina? Black mothers there continue to be severely under-resourced, North Carolina is a childcare desert, their vote here truly matters, and so many have been further challenged by the recent horrific storm.
And, moms can access childcare vouchers for early voting and Election Day voting in Allyson’s hometown of Los Angeles thanks to a special Vote Like a Mother® partnership with childcare provider Brella. New York City and Westchester , families can access Election Day childcare, thanks to a partnership with childcare and early learning provider Vivvi. In select locations around New York, Vivvi will offer up to a full day of childcare – not just while you cast your vote. This means you have time to research and fill out your sample ballot, head to the polls, wait in line, and cast your official vote without having to stress one bit over childcare!
Plus, we’ve created a brand new set of Vote Like a Mother® resources designed to minimize, and ideally remove, some of the barriers we moms face in casting our ballots this election.
